The purpose of this study was to inquire a child-care teachers¡¯ perception of autism spectrum disorder using focus group interviews targeting child-care center teachers and directors. After three group interviews, we analyzed interview contents using the constant comparison method. From the qualitative analysis, five themes and eleven categories emerged: (1) perceptions of early screening and intervention of autism spectrum disorder, (2) understanding of diagnosis and symptoms of autism spectrum disorder, (3) difficulties in autism spectrum disorder at the child-care field, (4) coping plans with autism spectrum disorder, and (5) demands for autism spectrum disorder. Based on these results, implications and suggestions for child-care teachers training in early screening and interventions of autism spectrum disorder and demands for specialized and systematic early screening and intervention services were discussed.
